Zephyr: You know, Evan, I LOVE anime swords, but there is ONE weapon that is somehow even more badass.

Evan: You don't mean...

Zephyr: OH YEAH, SCYTHES! These weapons are for masters only, making the people who wield them even MORE awesome!

Alana: Maka Albarn the scythe meister, and her weapon partner Soul Evans.

Elr0nd: And Ruby Rose the huntress, and her weapon Crescent Rose. I'm Elr0nd, and those three idiots are Alana Evan, and Zephyr...

Alana: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to see who would win a death battle!

Elr0nd: Honestly, Maka's childhood was pretty standard, until her mother caught her father cheating on her. Yeah, we all know that never works out well. Maka was left in the custody of her father, and...

Zephyr: Yeah, she don't like the guy. When Maka became a teenager, she enrolled in the DWMA (Death Weapon Meister Academy), which is probably the most badass high school ever.

Alana: What does this place do? well, it trains weapon meisters to hunt the Kishin, basically the monsters of the Soul Eater Universe. And what are these weapons and meisters? Basically, some people are born with the ability to transform into weapons, and often enroll in this academy to be wielded by meisters, who are the people using the weapons. Maka is easily one of the most skilled meisters the academy has ever trained!

Evan: Not surprising, considering her physical abilities. Maka can swing her giant scythe partner around easily without tiring, and damaged Crona with her bare hands. Keep in mind that this is the same person whose weapon is his own blood, making it nearly impossible to do anything except cut the skin.

Alana: Not to mention her speed. Maka has hypersonic reaction time, and is fast enough to run up walls... somehow... how is that even possible?

Elr0nd: We've had people on this show that can destroy moons, survive the bottom of the ocean, and carry over 1000 tons with ONE HAND, and that's the question you ask?

Alana: Touche.

Zephyr: Not like she needs to avoid attacks or anything, because she's taken hits from powerful witches, the demon swordsman Crona, and the near-god Asura (Not to be confused with the Asura's wrath guy) and gets back up without a problem.

Evan: Maka brings more to the table than simple statistics, however. As Alana said, Maka is one of the deadliest meisters at the DWMA. She's fully capable of slicing through human bodies with her weapon partner, Soul. Given the shape of a scythe's blade, it's rather hard to pull off.

Zephyr: You can't fake that shit like you can with a sword. But she can, cause she's a goddamn acrobat!

Alana: Like yours truly, Maka can dodge and move around almost any attack, with amazing reflexes only heightened by soul perception, which lets you... perceive souls.



Elr0nd: With this, Maka can sense other people's souls and thus is an expert tracker. In fact, she's the best in the DWMA! this also adds a boost to her already amazing reflexes, and if that isn't hypersonic, i don't know what is.

Zephyr: If that wasn't enough, she can also freakin' fly with the Grigori soul! this is apparently rare, and is given to one in one thousand people but... wouldn't that equal 7 million fliers around the world? Not exactly what i'd call rare.

Evan: I belive it's safe to assume they mean meisters. I would file this under her two "holy" abilities, along with the anti-demon wavelength.

Alana: The anti-demon wavelength was inherited from her mother, Kami. Essentially, it makes her attacks extra-effective against demons.

Elr0nd: It also gives her the power to purify people... Evan? i have a question.

Evan: Yes?

Elr0nd: What kind of a useless ability is that!? It doesn't even have a debuff or anything!

Zephyr: Because some people don't fight by utterly destroying people.

GRIGORI SOUL

Lets Maka give wings to Soul's weapon form, granting the two flight
Only gifted to one in one thousand people

ANTI-DEMON WAVELENGTH

Inherited from her mother
Gives Maka's spirit the power to purify people

Zephyr: Speaking of which, we have Maka's partner and weapon, Soul "Soul eater" Evans. Damn, I want a name like that.

Elr0nd: Keep dreaming, 'Kazuto'.

Alana: These two go great together, despite their opposing personalities. Gee, that's NEVER been done before!

SOUL EATER EVANS

Zephyr: Well, despite their cliched "bookworm x cool guy/idiot" shtick, Their souls seem to be on the same page, so to speak. A.K.A. they can perform soul resonance, possibly one of the most badass abilities in anime! Say... Evan, can you turn into a-

Evan: NO.

Zephyr: Sheesh forget I asked. But anyway, Soul resonance essentially sends soul wavelengths from the meister to the weapon, who amplifies them and reflects them back. sort of like plugging in a guitar into a speaker.

Elr0nd: This gives Maka and Soul a bunch of abilities and buffs that, surprise surprise, can't be accessed normally.

Alana: Aside from the obvious anti-demon wave and soul perception boosts, Maka can also somehow give the anti-wavelength to other people via the noise canceling move. Either way, it makes ya lazy and reflects energy attacks by putting them under Soul's influence. How does that work? No one knows. -_-

Zephyr: If that wasn't enough, they can also use the three hunter moves, which are the super arts of Soul Eater. Witch hunter increases the size of her blade into a moon shape and fires a wave of energy from it, pretty standard stuff. Majin hunter, or Genie hunter in america, buffs both the size and power of Maka's blade, making it look like an axe instead of a scythe. surprise surprise, it can ALSO fire waves of energy.

Elr0nd: And then there's the Kishin hunter, possibly the only move here that I'd use regularly. This thing makes Soul's blade MASSIVE, and can slice through almost anything.

Zephyr: Let me guess, it fires energy waves too?

Elr0nd: Surprisingly, no. However, it DID damage Asura enough for Crona to seal him in the moon, hopefully for good. Speaking of Crona...

SOUL RESONANCE

Resonates the wavelengths of Maka's and Soul's spirits
Enhances Maka's Soul Perception
Can be used to give Soul her Anti-Demon Wavelength briefly

Noise Canceling
-Has Soul use an ability by playing the piano in the Black Room while in weapon form
-Can be used to transmit the Anti-Demon Wavelength to others
-Puts opponents in a lethargic, trance-like state
-Redirects energy attacks by putting under Soul's influence

Witch Hunter
-Fires a wave of energy from Soul's blade

Majin Hunter
-Increases the size and power of Soul's blade
-Can fire energy waves as well

Kishin Hunter
-Makes Soul's blade massive in size
-Can slice through almost anything
-Seemingly can't fire energy waves
-Damaged Asura enough for Crona to seal him in the moon

Evan: During their first battle with Crona, Soul was greviously injured with a slash to the chest. Despite him seemingly recovering, some of Crona's blood made it into his body. Turns out, this was actually done on purpose thanks to the witch Medusa. And instead of infecting Soul like logic would dictate, It only made him more powerful.

Zephyr: Maka can activate this power with Soul Resonance, and gains a boost of both strength and durability. As in, Crona's-sword-can't-pierce-any-further-than-her-skin kind of durable. 

Alana: It only has the itty-bitty little insicnificant side effect of complete insanity.


Elr0nd: ......Damn.

Zephyr: But it's all good in the end, because not only can she slow the madness with the anti-demon wavelength, she also has the black blood dress, which gives Maka an armored dress seemingly made out of the stuff. Like any good loophole, it gives the ability boost, but NOT the insanity boost.

Evan: If she wants to give madness to other people, she can use the Sound Shock. This turns soul's blade into a keyboard that Maka can play to fire waves of energy that cause, yes, madness on contact.

BLACK BLOOD

Insanity magnifier
Was injected into Soul during a fight with Crona
Maka can use its power with Soul Resonance

-By playing the keyboard, Maka can fire energy blasts
-Blasts cause madness on contact

Zephyr: Alas, Maka herself isn't without weaknesses. She can't access her weapon blood, and is essentially human. Additionally, most of her more powerful attacks require soul to use, and thus she relies on him for combat.

Alana: Plus the whole "black blood = insanity" thing. Still, I wouldn't want to get on the bad side of this fighter.
